Walking or Strolling
The walking group enjoy healthy exercise in the fresh air with
the emphasis on enjoyment and companionship as we explore the
beautiful countryside in the North Wales area.
You will need boots, with a good tread, no smooth soles; not
trainers nor similar very lightweight shoes which won't cope with
the rougher or wetter ground very well and could be dangerous in
some places.
We will almost always walk on paths or tracks or quiet roads.
There will be some steeper sections, but not consisting of
hundreds of feet together.
We don't expect to walk for longer than 3 hours. Occasionally
we have an all day leisurely walk, bringing a packed lunch. The
Leader will have either reconnoitred the walk the week before or
know the route well.
Members usually enjoy a hearty Pub lunch after the shorter
walks.
Next walk
When:
Thursday 8 May.

the stone walls not on the Conwy side of the Pass. Grid ref: 750770
The Walk:
This is a repeat of the walk which had to be curtailed last November due
to the gale force wind and horizontal rain! It is a 5 mile walk mainly over
exposed heather and bracken clad moorland with super views all around. We
will start along the North Wales Coastal path from Sychnant, skirt Foel Lus,
go along Jubillee Walk to Capelulo and back to Sychnant.
Walking boots are essential, as will be waterproof coat and over trousers.
If it rains you will need these because of the exposed nature of the terrain.
If you like to use walking poles please bring them. A hot drink for morning
break is recommended.
Lunch will be at the Fairy Glen pub in Capelulo. Non-walkers welcome to
join us!
Contact:
John Morris for any further information. If weather is or looks poor
please ring me on the morning of the walk to ascertain if it is still on.
