Conwy Recycling schemeMany people are finding the details of this scheme difficult to understand. Here are a few points to clarify information on the Conwy CBC scheme. Batteries, Mobile Phones and Ink Cartridges.Sainsburys supermarket, Rhyl have FREEPOST Envelopes for recycling these items. They are available at the Customer Services desk. Get one for a neighbour as well. Domestic batteries can be handed in at all public libraries (except Llangernw and Cerrigydrudion). TetrapakBeverage cartons are recyclable. Take them to special collection banks at Asda in Kinmel Bay; Tesco in Abergele and Colwyn Crescent car park, Rhos on Sea. PlasticThese items are not recyclable: Hard brittle plastics, like CD cases, hair combs, disposable
knives and forks and Biro's

These containers (except Black) are
recyclable, their codes can usually be found on the
bottom/underside: The Recycling banks accept them. Plastic BagsNote both Asda and Tesco supply 'Bags for Life' for a nominal charge. They are replaced free when worn. Recycling BanksThese are numerous and situated locally, most Supermarkets have one. They accept paper and glass. At these sites there are large modular banks in the car parks for clothes and plastic. Mochdre.
Your green bag content and paper from the recycling banks (Tesco, Somerfield and ASDA) goes to Shotton Paper Mill which produces recycled paper for the newspaper industry. However adhesive particles from envelopes are a particular problem and are not acceptable at Shotton. The recycling centres (Mochdre and St George) send all paper waste including envelopes to Biffa Waste to be recycled as tissue paper. HelpAnyone who is elderly, disabled or infirm and requires assistance with their collection should contact the Recycling dept on 01492 575337.
